Barbara Reimer

May 19 - June 30, 2022

Hours: by appointment only

Reimer’s comprehensive body of work is influenced by “the responsible photograph”, documentary sculpture, the institution, travel and the processes and materiality thereof. redacted, specifically designed for 330g, consists of a large-scale, immersive, photographic installation that fully wraps around the project space. For this show, Reimer uses expired film exclusively for image capture. Scanned colour bars have been added digitally and enlarged for printing. The title redacted refers to the obvious blocking out of the images but also the definition of the word as it relates to communication and storytelling.

Barbara Reimer is a Canadian artist living in Saskatoon who works predominantly with photography, digital media, and installation, most recently adding sculpture and to a lesser extent, mark-making to her art practice.   Educated in Saskatoon and Toronto, she has an extensive background in commercial photographic and digital specialist areas. In the last 15 years, she has spent extensive time researching and developing expired film in coffee.  Reimer has exhibited nationally and internationally, taking part in solo and group shows in Nicaragua, Toronto, Saskatoon, Michigan, and Wuhan, China.
