Altered States features Troy Gronsdahl and Sarah Anne Johnson. Gronsdahl’s body of work includes photographs, artist books, and text-based projects that draw from manifestos and other art texts to explore the convergence of art and poetry. His conceptually based approach advances playful and poetic meditations on knowing and the formation of meaning. While her work is primarily photo-based, Sarah Anne Johnson also employs a full range of media including painting, sculpture and performance where she addresses issues that are environmental, social and personal. Altered States features Still Lifes, a set of 9 chromogenic prints from Field Trip, a series exploring the fringe aesthetics of festival culture. Johnson reworks the photographic print to add layers of meaning, in this case, to capture the psychological state of the hedonistic festival landscape.
